Life Goes on in Infanta and Gen. Nakar, Quezon

Senator Richard J. Gordon, chairman of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) distributes 75 carabaos and 86 fishing boats to residents of the towns of Real, Infanta and General Nakar in Quezon Province that suffered two twin typhoons in November 2004. GORDON WANTS ACCOUNTABILITY FOR COUP PLOTTERS

Senator Richard Gordon said yesterday that persons responsible for the alleged plot to topple the government through rebellion or coup d’etat should be made “fully accountable” for their acts even through Presidential Proclamation 1017 has been lifted.

“The members of the Armed Forces who were allegedly plotting a coup d’etat should be made fully accountable. They should be given forty-eight hours within which to leave their posts in order to cleanse the ranks of undesirable elements in the military,” stated Gordon.

Gordon declared that while under the Constitution, the Armed Forces of the Philippines is the protector of the people and the state, its stated goal is to secure the sovereignty of the state and integrity of the national territory.

“The military should drop the idea that they can take over civilian government,” said Gordon.
